Blue light: prevent headaches with blue light glasses
Benefits of a blue light glasses
A blue light glasses (glasses with blue light filter) can help prevent these problems. The special lenses filter out a portion of the blue light, reducing the strain on your eyes. The benefits of blue light glasses summarized:
Less headache: A blue light glasses filter the blue light from your screen. This way, your eyes become less quickly overstimulated, which helps to prevent headaches and even migraines caused by bright screen light.
- Less digital eye strain: Wearing such glasses reduces the strain on your eyes during prolonged computer use. Your eyes feel less tired and dry after a long day behind the laptop.
- A better sleep rhythm: Blue light in the evening can disrupt your sleep. With blue light glasses, you can use your screen in the evening without disturbing your natural sleep rhythm too much, as the filter limits the suppression of melatonin. This makes it easier for you to fall asleep.

What is blue light and why is it a problem?
Blue light is high-energy visible light that is emitted by LED screens of smartphones, computers, and televisions, among other sources. Naturally, this blue light is also present in sunlight and plays a role in our energy levels and alertness during the day. However, in the evening, too much artificial blue light can be detrimental: it suppresses the production of melatonin (our sleep hormone), disrupting your biological clock. Moreover, continuous exposure to bright blue light can strain your eyes and lead to complaints such as eye pain, stinging eyes, and difficulty falling asleep.

Headache from blue light and digital eye strain
Prolonged exposure to a screen can lead to digital eye strain. You may already notice it: after hours in front of the computer, you blink less often, your eyes become dry and feel tired. This overexertion of the eyes can manifest in complaints such as headaches or a nagging feeling behind the eyes. The bright blue light from screens also plays a role in this. It spreads strongly in the eye and can feel bright and blinding, causing you to experience light sensitivity and tension headaches more quickly. Especially at the end of the day, after long exposure to screen light, many people complain of throbbing headaches or even migraines linked to their screen use.
